FACULTY SENATE OF THE UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA

RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF CAMPUS DIVERSITY

WHEREAS the University of Florida has continually emphasized its commitment to the establishment of a diverse community in which individual rights and freedoms are protected within a framework of tolerance and common human respect, and

WHEREAS recent occurrences on the campus of the University of Florida have brought to focus issues of racial intolerance, insensitivity and inequality, and

WHEREAS the Faculty Senate of the University of Florida actively promotes the practice of behaviors designed to foster sensitivity to differences as well as consciousness of similarities which exist among the faculty, staff, students and administrators on this campus,

BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Faculty Senate joins with members of the university community in placing on record its opposition to all acts, statements, policies, and procedures which may impede the establishment and maintenance of an environment on this campus, in which all persons can exist harmoniously.
